Description:Human stomach is an important digestive organ that chemically and mechanically breaks down food for further absorption. Histologically, stomach is made up of four layers including gastric mucosa, submucosa, muscularis externa and serosa.
Cells of the stomach
The gastric mucosa is mainly composed of surface mucous cells, parietal cells, stomach chief cells, mucous neck cells, and enteroendocrine cells. These cells reside in gastric pits and glands and secrete protective mucus, gastric enzymes, hydrochloric acids (HCl), and various hormones that contribute to the digestive function in stomach. Aside from the epithelial cells, other types of cells and supportive tissues can also be found in stomach, including gastric fibroblasts, smooth muscles cells found in muscularis mucosa, fibrous connective tissue in submucosa and muscular fibres in muscularis externa.;
Quality Control:All cells test negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi;
